Fuck That's Funny: The Belgian Builders that struck gold (and then called the cops).
B da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da po-da poop poop boo do da da da bom Hello And welcome to the Year Podcast It's me, your old mate CJ. Fucking how we doing out there, fams. My goodness. It's the countdown is on. I keep on harping on about it, but I'm fucking excited for winter to be over. I tell you what. Feels like um winter's coming to an end here already. I've moved my bloody bed outside out out of the lounge today and back into my room, so that's fucking nice. Now what a treat. What a absolute treat. I hope you guys have had a good week and some nice stuff and things happened. And um yeah, hope you I hope you was feeling the love this week. And if you didn't, as always, this week's a new week. Hell yeah. We get more chances, uh, more opportunities, more blessings, more challenges, obstacles, learning opportunities. Fuck yeah, let's go. My goodness, reality's hidden. Um I had my last day at my old work on Friday, and yeah, it's been such a quick turnaround, like with two only giving two weeks notice in at that place, and now um now I'm about to start my new job tomorrow, and I realised like I'm not gonna see my pals tomorrow morning. And I felt a little bit sad about that, but I'm also really excited to start my new job. I'm fucking nervous too. I really am not looking forward to being the new c cat on the block again for like it feels like the millionth time in the last fucking year or two. But it's gonna be okay. I've fucking got this, I've got this, and it's not my first rodeo, and I feel a lot more secure within myself these days. So like in the past I would have been shitting bricks because my whole existence, like, um what's the word? Uh depended on other people's acceptance and now I'm like fuck it, I'll just go in and be me and hopefully there'll be some people there that I vibe with. I am a little bit concerned about being lonely. That was a little bit of a fear that popped up just literally not that long ago, within the last hour, and I was thinking like, fuck am I just gonna be like sitting by myself at my desk, like and eating my lunch in my car, but I'm not really uh eat my lunch in my car girly. So even if it is that at the start, I know that it won't be that forever. And everything's gonna be okay. Just gotta remember that. Everything's gotta be gonna be okay. Um yeah, fucking no paid membership. Guys, gym membership is not paid at this new place. So I've kind of got like a free pass to not go to the gym anymore, but I didn't even fucking go this last week, honestly. Like it became such a struggle. So that's fallen off, but uh we'll see. We'll see. We'll see what happens with that. I'll definitely keep you off updated. Yeah, offdated, what the fuck? Yeah, updated. And um another thought that I've been having for a while, like at the gym, you fucking wear headphones, and I tend to wear headphones quite a lot, like working by myself. Um who the fuck thought that ambient headphones were a good idea? I'm sure I'm sure there are uses and like I'm sure that they're really good for other people, but fucking not for me. We need to I reckon I would like to see us go back to the noise cancelling, cut everything out, headphones. I don't want to hear shit. I pretty much want those little foam earplugs, but that plays music to me. Like, I do not want to be coherent at all of anything that's going on around me. Like, yeah, I still have the ambient headphones, I always turn them on to like as noise cancelling as possible, but there's such a good opportunity for if somebody's like walking up to you, like, oh sorry I can't hear anything. Sometimes they'll leave you alone, sometimes they won't. Um, but yeah, fuck. I don't want to hear nothing, man. And straight up, when you're using power tools too, they they increase the amount of noise that you're hearing. Like for my health and safety, I need to go back to noise cancelling headphones. I think noise cancelling headphones are still a thing. I think that was my fuck up on purchasing new headphones and they um they have this new silly fucking ambient noise thing. I fucking I don't want I don't want that. I don't need that in my life. I do not need to hear the outside world. And if I do, I won't be playing music, you know? I will not have my if I need to hear what's happening in the outside world outside of headphone land, I will take my fucking headphones out like a normal human being. Like we did in the good old days, you know? If you want to hear what someone has to say, you take your headphones out. Anyways, I don't fucking know. I had a real interesting experience on Monday. So with my last workplace, I heard that the only way you could get a pay rise was if if you joined the union. So I made the decision of joining the fucking union and we had I had my first ever union meeting on oh sorry, they had one on Monday, but I was like, ah fuck it, I'm going, like I don't care, I'm not gonna I don't care, I'm not gonna be here. But I ended up going on Tuesday because I heard that there was a vote for like what they're voting in and it was so fucking good. Like I've um I've signed up to the union in my new workplace as well, just on the simple fact that the the contractors are way more put together and um I ended up looking into looking into I think I Googled no, I think I YouTube like fucking union or something and this TED talk came up with this lady and I can't remember what her name was. I could look it up for you, but I'm not going to. But this um this TED talk on unions and why they're so important, why they were important and why they still are today. And I literally witnessed that this week with um with the union meeting about why they're fucking important. Um like people that are like yeah, I just I can't un get my head around that people are still being fucked in this um in this like in this day and age by their places of work and their and their pay rate. Um Yeah, like I'm and I'm realizing that not being in a union, just how exposed you actually are um not to mention like when people are united in something there's power, there's strength in numbers. Like that's kind of what comes to mind. There's strength in numbers. And one voice alone might not be that loud, but when you get twenty people in a room, that's fucking louder than one voice standing alone. Um but yeah, we um yeah, there was a bit of there there was a thing and uh a meeting and I felt fucking sick about it because some people are still going to be struggling with what got voted in, what actually got accepted by the union, and it was literally a 12 to 14 uh sorry, uh 14 to 12 pass. So yeah, the fucking the the big wig guy that was there, he was like, fuck, that's that's rough, like we don't like seeing stuff like that. Um and I get why, like, because it was so close and there's there was such a large majority that didn't want to accept what was what was proposed too. Um but yeah, so pretty much the the the thing was we came away and they said like you need more people in the union because if you're gonna have a blue, which I didn't realise a blue was a protest, I've always thought of like blueies, like um like you're getting trespassed from somewhere. Um that's from the hospital days. Um may have may or may not have actually received a blueie myself at one point in time in my life, but that's a story for another fucking day. Um but yeah, they're to yeah, they're saying need more people in the union, because if you're gonna have a blue, then um the company needs to not be able to operate without you, sort of thing, for it to be worthwhile. Um and so I was talking to somebody at work and I said, you know, th they need more people in the union so that like we're we're heard. And he was like, Oh, well, you know, like the union I always get what the union gets anyway, which I've heard that so many times, and that was kind of my rationale about it with the union and not joining a union, and I'm like, nah, I'll get my own pay rise, like I'll advocate for myself, I'm not paying fucking union fees. But yeah, the more people there are in those unions, like the better negotiating power the working man has, I guess. Um Yeah. And fucking when nobody nobody is united, the workplace holds the fucking power. And is that something we want in this day and age? Like Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's not it's not really something that I would like, because uh yeah, fuck. But anyways, it's in the fucking it's in the name, like a union. We're united, we're united in something. And society fucking as a whole, I was thinking about this. That like society as a whole does not have a fucking heart and soul. It's us as the individuals in our actions that give society its heart or the opposite in some people's, but um if you're listening to this podcast, I'd say you're pro it's a pretty high chance that you've got a fucking heart and a soul. Um Yeah. And if we're unified in something bigger than us, then that's when powerful change can happen. Like that's where there's hope and fucking it's not in squabbling about amongst ourselves or thinking that like we're better than somebody else, or fucking what I see in white society, like bitching about what gender somebody chooses to be or what race they belong to, or yeah, who's better than who that fucking such and such did wrong or whatever, like that's all disunity. And as far as I can see it, like we belong to one race, and that's the human race, and we fucking deserve better. Like so many I know this is not the majority, but like working for a company like that again, it's really it's fuck, it's lit a fire up under me, eh? Like, of how people deserve better and then not getting that. Um Yeah. People that are struggling to feed their families. Um people that fucking can't see that we deserve better or that there is better available on the table. People with fucking mental health issues that can't get help. They deserve better. Single fathers and mothers deserve better. Our kids deserve better, fucking mother nature deserves better, bro. The animals, bro, fuck the birds and the fucking manatees. The corals and the fucking turtles. Like fucking what are we doing on a large scale, honestly? Like, I know in New Zealand we're pretty blessed with where we we're at. I know a lot of countries and working people are are a lot worse off, but like we can fucking do better, and it's up to us to fucking do better to speak up and like come together on this and fucking unite, pretty much, so that we're heard. Like, and we may not be heard the first time round, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, is what I've heard. The squeaky wheel gets the fucking grease, and if we're sitting back, laying down, just taking it, mate, with no Vaseline, which I feel is like p yeah Things are going that way. Um yeah. I mean look at the tittle tea or whiteangy stuff, like so many people gathering together, going on that hikoi, and fucking That that is a a massive example of unity like people coming together to be heard. Fuck yeah. I fucking love that shit. That gets me fired up that fucking yeah, let's go Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Anyways, on a fucking lighter note, why did God create roosters with necklace? Cause I was looking at a f I was looking at a fucking gift that I'd sent someone the other day. And I can't help but feel like that like even that little whatever the fuck that floppy thing on the top of their head is, like what is what the fuck is that about? What actually is that about? Why why? I don't know. If there's any fucking why w who even studies fucking roosters fucking flappy bits? I don't know, vets? If there's any vets, animal scientists, whatever the technological term of that is, if there's anyone like that uh that listens to this podcast, like holler at your girl. Uh I could fucking Google it actually, probably, but yeah. Anyways, fucking hell. Um on the topic of though, like fucking mother nature, like we could do better for mother nature, I was um like in terms of sustainability and shit, I've been down a rabbit hole of solar power this week, and straight up, I didn't even think about it before, and uh I know you guys haven't seen my face, but uh fucking I'm I've got blonde hair and I'm probably about to live up to that right now. I didn't even think about it that like heat pumps run off fucking electricity. Oh man, I can't believe I said that one of my mates was a sandwich short of a picnic last week. Yeah, that was maybe a little hypocritical, but yeah, fuck, what the fuck? Heat pumps run off energy, and if I had solar power, like if I owned this house and chucked solar on it, straight up, I would fucking yeah. I've been considering actually buying this house that I'm in, or trying to anyways, and if that was the thing, I would strongly be I'd be strongly looking at solar, eh? And yeah, like EVs and stuff too, man. Do you remember when Do you remember when fucking EVs were like considered gay? Like they were fucking labelled as gay? I was thinking about that today and like yeah, fucking who's gay now, Gerald? Who's fucking gay now when the price of fuel is absolutely through the roof and you're trying to run your V8 fucking Commodore um on the fucking petrol and um old, I don't know, fucking old Martin's going to work in his fucking EV that's literally costing him nothing because he's got fucking solar on the roof. I don't know how many solar panels you'd actually have to actually have to have on the roof to like charge your fucking vehicle, have your heat pump blast in. You'd have to have batteries too, which I b from what the from what little I looked into it the other day, um yeah. Batteries are fucking expensive, and they're also a fire hazard. And uh yeah. Bring some issues. But um I also had a look at like what's the alternative to fucking battery, like because I was thinking, like, is battery actually gonna stay around? A little while ago I found myself on this when I was down a rabbit hole of um investment. I found myself on this like uh stock uh no, what do you call it? Uh shareholders fucking meeting for this place in South Africa that like sold helium and shit and fucking split isotopes or something. I don't fucking know what they actually did. Like it hurts my brain to try and even remember what they fucking did. But they were talking about like nuclear things and stuff for like I think it was Tesla had one, Rolls Royce. I'd have to find my little fucking notebook, um, and I've got a few of them, and I can't remember which one it's in, but like a few large car manufacturing companies were actually, yeah, looking into like nuclear stuff. But I can't imagine in a throwaway society, fuck, I've gone off on a tangent here, but bear with me, I'll get back to the batteries. I can't imagine companies selling something like that, a technology that lasts for a huge amount of time. Uh, I can't imagine companies selling that to people. You know, could you imagine like being able to hand down a vehicle to like your children and your grandchildren and your grandchildren's children, and it's you've never put fuel in it once? I can't because yeah, I can't I can't fucking imagine that, to be honest. Cause that means like the end of the end of the businesses. Why don't we just roll businesses like that? Why don't we just create lasting items and they charge more for it, but they fucking last forever, like for your whole lifetime or whatever, and then they just they take their all the money that they need out of that and they get cashed up and then they fucking like close down the business when it's like starts falling off and then they start a fucking new one. Like why don't we do that? That'd be more uh is that sus I feel like that'd be more sustainable. I don't know, I'm just chucking fucking ideas out here, but why does a business have to last for fucking ever? I'm sure there's a fucking I'm sure there's a racks excuse me. But um yeah, I was thinking about like yeah, I was looking into the batteries and stuff and the it does seem to be more battery technology, but it's also the mining of all these fucking minerals. Which part of me part of me's thinking about putting like yeah, potentially I need to buy a fucking house first. That's the first thing on the list. And then I can think about investing because um yeah, fuck. Huh. Fuck that makes my brain tired, bro. Fuck that makes my brain tired. Oh, yuck. But um yeah, anyways, fucking solar energy. Been thinking about that this week. Um what else has happened? Fucking that the union stuff fucking came across a video of like a little Austin Tech Texas business called ant sauce and like they were lit they are literally this guy was like playing with like this fucking huge scoop of black fucking it looked like I don't know like it had the consistency of like something fluffy but looked like tiny little bits of black gravel no smaller than that but it was like fluffy and uh it was ants and uh yeah they're literally making a sauce out of fucking ants and I don't know how I feel about that. I I'd actually I can tell you how I feel about that and it's not fucking good like it kind of makes me a little queasy thinking about ants and like this is coming from somebody who I fucking ate an ant once at primary school. I'm pretty sure I was thinking back, I'm pretty sure it wasn't just I wasn't just by myself, you know, fucking like eating ants, but I'm pretty sure there was like a little bit of um peer pressure to that because yeah, I did pro did I definitely was a um prime candidate for a bit of peer pressure. Um but yeah, definitely ate an ant once at primary school and I remember it being kind of like fucking peppery. Like, yeah, like it was quite a fucking strong flavour for a little ant. And these guys reckon there's like 200 fucking ants in there in per per sauce bottle, which I'd be really interested to know who's counting the ants. Who is counting that is a fucking job I would not want. I can tell you that much. I'd probably do it though, like I'd probably fucking if I needed to count I mean shit, I've just been cleaning toilets. Like who am I kidding? I'd definitely count ants out for a living. I'd probably want to not be alive like after a few days of it. I think it would be pretty hideous work, but um I'd definitely rather clean toilets, I reckon, actually, than count out 200 ants at a time to put into a sauce bottle. Fuck. Yeah, fuck that. No way. No way, Jose. Fucking on the subject, I mentioned Tesla before. On the subject of fucking Tesla, did anybody else see that um that video of the Tesla fucking law? Absolutely they were like down this um dark alley. And I assume it's like the one that like a not a self-driven Tesla. Um, because there was nothing on there that said it was a self-driven one. But uh this Tesla is sitting in this fucking alleyway, and it just launches forward, hits into these bollards, and yeets itself into the fucking air and ends up on its side. Fucking hell. That was absolutely mental. Like it fuck they've got some speed on them, those Teslas, eh? Like, I've heard that, but like seeing one boost that hard down an alleyway like very short distance and have enough power in it to fucking launch itself into the air and flip over. Fucking crazy, absolutely mental. Like, are these self-driving Teslas gonna be as powerful as that? Cause I don't know how I feel about that. Anyway, we'll see. We'll fucking see. Holy shit, I've done it again. We've got four minutes, fuck I can spin some yarns. Hey, talk the legs off a fucking donkey. Um yeah, I've got four minutes and forty-five seconds to do. Fuck that's funny, so let's go. It's time for fuck that's funny. Well, fuck, I don't know if I've got much. I've said about 20,000 fucks today, eh? Maybe that's just how I'm feeling. Fuck. Um anyways, I the funniest thing that I saw this week was believe it or not, the Belgian builders. Did you guys see that? The came up on the news and uh the Belgian what can came up on my newsfeed on Facebook. Belgian builders. Belgian builders found nine million euro worth of gold ingots, which I'm guessing those are like the bars, like the bullion bars. Might be wrong there. But gold ingots and coins in a chest that was bricked into a wall while they were doing groundworks to lay a sewer pipe, and they immediately notified their client and police. And you're probably thinking, Casey, that's not that funny, but just bear with me, okay? Because straight up, straight up, if that was fucking me, I'm retiring early, bro. Like, honestly, ain't no way if I find if I find a fucking treasure chest that a fucking pirate has fucking pricked into a wall somewhere, and I'm there laying a shit pipe. There is no way I'm calling that into authorities and the client. Like, oh no way, bro. Fucking straight up, catch me and my work buddies on a tropical island somewhere sipping our fucking nice cold drinks and getting a fucking tan, my dude. No way. Uh oh fuck. If that was me, I bet those guys fucking regret that decision for the rest of their entire existence. Particularly that could be like intergenerational trauma, eh? Like that time when grandad fucking found a pirate's chest, found like the most treasure, like fuck, in my lifetime anyway, that I've heard of. Grandad found all this fucking treasure and he called the authorities. Oh fuck. That's so disappointing. Like yeah. Imagine like just struggling to pay your bills for the rest of your life and feed your family and thinking about how you you just should have shut the fuck up and taken the gift from the universe or Jesus or God or Buddha or what fucking Muhammad. Who's the I don't know, Allah, Allah, sorry, that's fucked. I didn't that's that was not meant to be racist at all. Allah, um fucking Yeah, holy Ganesh Ganish? Who's the fucking elephant god? Anyways, back to the topic. Um, yeah, just take it as a sign from whatever god you believe in or don't fucking believe it in. Just holy shit. Well honestly, what happened to finders keepers though? Cause like if those guys legitimately stood there and pulled a finder's keeper on that, I would fully support it. Like I would come together on that and I would fully support it. I would sign a fucking petition to say I support them calling Finder's Keepers. Like, 'cause yeah, fuck imagine finding a winning lotto ticket and like you check it at the at the lotto desk and like and you're like, oh fuck, I've just won the I've just won the fucking Cause I think that's like what was it? It was like sixteen million fucking 17.6 million dollars of NZD worth of fucking gold that they found. Like imagine, yeah, finding a winning winning auto ticket, taking it to the fucking counter, and it comes up and it's like, oh yeah, you've won $17.6 million, and you're like, oh fuck, I better call the cops. Fucking better call oh better call the cops on this, because shit. Oh yeah, fuck. There's gotta be more, there's gotta be more to it. Like, yeah. If it's private property, I could understand it, but you best believe what I'm taking a couple of fucking pockets of coins. Like I'm not I'm not I don't support crime. This is a difficult one, right? Like I don't support crime, but like straight up, if the they just give those guys like one or one uh one bar each or something, eh? Like you'd hope you'd hope that would happen. Or like get be like bros, just fill your pockets with coins, because straight up we're set we that's that's so much money. That's so much money. I fucking hope they came away with something. I hope they came away with something more than a pat on the back. Yeah, fuck. I wonder on that on that bit though, like I wonder how many of these guys end up quitting their jobs Like I wonder if the if the chest was still sealed when the authorities got there or if it wasn't. I wonder how many of these guys end up quitting their jobs and uh moving to fucking Mexico or something or Greece or or just end up s or start taking like holidays Yeah, hell yeah. But fuck. Anyways, that was the best I could do this week. It's a bit serious, bit of a serious fucking week for some reason. Not many fuck that fuck fucking hilarious things have happened. Huh, have to work on that. But yeah, just fucking remember, honestly, I strongly suggest fucking looking into a union if you haven't before and you feel like you're getting fucked by society. Um all for freedom of choice though, straight up. Um and do your due diligence, people. I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. Um sometimes, so fucking due diligence. Um and if you find a chest full of gold, you fucking best believe I will help you find the moral loophole. Like I don't know where that is, but I'm pretty sure we can find one together. Okay, so yeah. Peace out, homies. I hope you have a beautiful fucking week this week. I hope some great things happen and I hope s the universe sends us all some gold. Like some little gold nuggets. I know money's not everything, I fucking harp on about that enough enough. But um yeah. Hope you found some gold in your week. There's always gold there, lying there somewhere. Sometimes it's in a brick wall and a chest, sometimes it's in a fucking smile along the fucking road as you're walking to somewhere you don't want to go, and somebody shoots you a nice friendly smile in a good morning, and that's enough to be fucking grateful for. Hell yeah. Alright, peace and love everybody. You'll hear me on the next one. Bye.
